Bashundhara Group observes World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2024
Bashundhara Group, a pioneer in sustainable practices and industrial excellence, took a proactive stance on Sunday in commemorating “World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2024.”
The initiatives adopted on the day aimed at raising awareness on occupational well-being, and fostering a culture of safety across the conglomerate’s different manufacturing units.
Against the backdrop of concerning statistics unveiled by the International Labour Organization (ILO), highlighting the pervasive health hazards posed by climate change to workers worldwide, Bashundhara Group reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safety and good health for its workforce.
The day’s events unfolded across key manufacturing units including Bashundhara Paper Mills Ltd (BPML), Bashundhara Multi Paper Industries Ltd (BMPIL), Bashundhara Industrial Complex Ltd (BICL) and Bashundhara Multi Steel Industries Ltd (BMSIL).
The projects are being led by senior leaders including Tanweer-Ul-Islam, BPML chief advisor (Unit-2), SM Sorowar, head of project BPML (Plant -1), Md Abul Hasan, head of project BPML (Plant-3), and Md Lutfor Rahman, chief engineer and head of plant at BICL, and Md Shamshad Malik, acting head of project BPML (Plant -2).
All the heads of the projects delivered poignant statements and speeches, urging necessary actions to ensure the safety and well-being of all employees.
Safwan Sobhan, vice chairman of Bashundhara Group, lauded the Sector-C team for their proactive stance, emphasising their dedication to fostering a culture of safety and well-being within the organisation. The resolute approach underscores Bashundhara Group’s unwavering commitment to excellence and sustainability in all facets of its operations.
The events featured a series of briefing sessions and rallies, aimed at empowering employees with the required knowledge and tools to mitigate climate-related health risks.
Mohammad Towfique Hasan, head of marketing, business development and sustainability, delivered a poignant message emphasising the importance of sustainability initiatives, and their integration into the organisational fabric.
